INTRODUCTION OF BIOLOGY


BIOLOGY:

                     The word biology has been derived from Greek words, bios and logos. Bios means life and logos means discussions, thinking, discourse or reasoning. So, biology is the study of living things.

LIFE:

          Life is a set of characteristics that distinguished between living and non living objects.

 

LIVING THINGS:

                               Living organism are highly organized, complex entities are composed of one or more cells; contain genetics programme of their characteristics; can acquire and use energy; and carry out and control numerous chemical reactions; can grow in size; maintain a fairly constant internal environment ; produce offspring’s similar to themselves ; respond to changes in their environment.
